Captured in autumn in the Icelandic Highlands, this photograph reveals Ljótipollur, a volcanic crater lake formed within the Laugahraun lava field. Surrounded by dark volcanic ridges and vibrant moss, the landscape carries the marks of both fire and time.

On this particular moment, shifting clouds opened just enough to allow sunlight to break through, illuminating fragments of the terrain in soft golden tones. The contrast between shadow and light transforms the scene, guiding the eye across rivers, lakes, and volcanic formations scattered throughout the highlands.

From above, the composition unfolds like a layered landscape where water, lava, and vegetation coexist in delicate balance. The fleeting light gives structure to the chaos, revealing a moment where the vastness of Iceland becomes both intimate and alive.
