Captured in summer above the Tungnáa River in the Icelandic Highlands, this photograph reveals an intricate network of braided channels formed as glacial water spreads across volcanic terrain. Over time, the river continuously divides and reconnects, carving delicate paths through dark sediments.

From above, the landscape takes on a strikingly graphic quality. Pale streams trace fluid, branching lines across the surface, resembling a form of natural calligraphy written directly onto the earth. Each channel represents a moment in a constantly evolving system, shaped by the flow of water and the subtle shifts of the terrain beneath it.

This image was selected as part of a UNESCO exhibition, highlighting the delicate balance between natural forces and the landscapes they create a reminder that even the most complex patterns emerge from simple, continuous movement.
